Paul Carlson, a devoted and longtime Board member and wonderful friend of the PRHS passed away on Tuesday afternoon.   Here are the arrangements:

    Wake:    Thursday, August 21 at Nelson Funeral Home, Cumberland & Talcott

    Funeral:    Friday, August 22 — Private Service

    Memorial Service:   Sunday, September 7, at a time of day yet to be arranged

R. Paul Carlson, age 73, a lifelong resident of Park Ridge, a devoted and dedicated teacher for 50 years at Maine East High School, at home with his Lord Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2008, beloved husband of Nancy; loving father of Thomas (Nancy) and Robert (Marcy) Patterson; beloved son of the late Walter and Eunice; cherished grandfather of David, Adam, Katie, Leah and Caroline; dear brother of Joyce Smith and Phyllis Allman; fond uncle, great-uncle and cherished friend to many. Visitation Thursday 3 to 9 p.m. at the Nelson Funeral Home, 820 Talcott Rd. (at Cumberland), Park Ridge. Family and friends will meet Friday from 9 a.m. until time of Funeral Service 10 a.m. at The Park Ridge Presbyterian Church. A Memorial Service for Paul will be held on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2008 at 3 p.m. at The Park Ridge Presbyterian Church, 847-823-4135, 1300 W. Crescent Ave. (2 Blks south of Touhy 1 Blk west of Greenwood). Our next board meeting is Tuesday, January 22 at 7:00pm at the Museum. We realize it is an unplanned date change, but please try to attend if at all possible. We would like to introduce our new Board members and Trustees, and begin to discuss 2008, including the Membership mailing, dues changes, newsletter contributions and other items. Some items coming up are the Library Preschool Fair, the February Artapalooza, the baseball sponsorship….

I will bring some snacks and we can get our new year as the PRHS off to a great start!!Please let me know if you are not able to attend.

Also, please mark your calendars for 2008:

October – no Board meeting because of Annual Meeting

December – no Board meeting because of the holidays

** We will be meeting on the third Tuesday of the month for all other months of 2008**

Attached please find the new list of Trustees and the Minutes from our last meeting, which was in October at the Annual Meeting. In an effort to save paper, I will assume you all are printing them off at home and I will not bring copies to the Board meeting.

Program: Ann Durkin Keating was introduced as our speaker and her program was Chicagoland: City and Suburbs in the Railroad Age. She took us back in time with a slide show to the days when Chicagoans were traveling to Park Ridge for vacation time, to play golf at the PRCC, stay at the Park Ridge Hotel or to visit friends in the Art Colony of Park Ridge. We heard some very interesting information about the history of the railroad in this area, and a good time was had by all.

A special thanks to Paul Adlaf for all of his hard work, time and efforts in organizing and planning this special event. We are pleased that Country Club Manager Tom McHugh, and Society Life Members and Club Members Jim and Martha Nolan as our sponsors were all supporting us here at the Country Club this year.
